Dmitry Kovalev has become a laureate of the 2025 National “AI Leaders” Award

At AI Journey in Moscow, the ceremony for the third National “AI Leaders” Award was held. The award recognizes researchers, companies, and regions for their significant contributions to the development of artificial intelligence technologies. This year, the competition received more than 350 submissions — a record in the award’s history.

Among the laureates in the “Award for Scientists” category is our laboratory’s researcher Dmitry Kovalev, a PhD in Computer Science whose work on optimization algorithms is widely used in machine learning and AI tasks. Dmitry received the award for his contributions to the theory of numerical optimization methods, which are applied, among other things, to solving machine learning and artificial intelligence problems.

“I would like to thank the award organizers for supporting the development of science in Russia. I would also like to thank my former scientific advisors Alexander Gasnikov and Peter Richtárik, all my co-authors whom I’ve worked with, and my family, who have always supported me,” Dmitry noted.

The “AI Leaders” Award is organized by the Digital Economy Autonomous Nonprofit Organization and the AI Alliance with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation. The ceremony also recognized the achievements of regions and companies implementing AI technologies in practical projects.

We congratulate Dmitry on this well-deserved award and wish him continued success in his scientific work!
