Laboratory staff became laureates of the Yandex ML Prize 2025

Yandex has announced the winners of its annual Yandex ML Prize 2025, awarded to instructors and academic program leaders who have made a significant contribution to the development of machine learning and AI education in Russia.

Among this year’s recipients are members of our lab — Alexander Bogdanov and Yuri Dorn.

Alexander Bogdanov, an M.Sc. student at MIPT and senior lecturer at the Department of Mathematical Foundations of Control, was recognized in the category “Early-Career Instructors.” Alexander oversees the lab’s educational initiatives and coordinates several academic courses and programs. In 2025, under his guidance, the following projects were launched:

– an optimization course at Central University
– a machine learning course at MIPT and ISP RAS
– an updated optimization program at the FPMI faculty of MIPT
– a new base department “Software Research and Development” at FPMI
– and the finalization of a 500-page textbook on numerical optimization methods.

Yuri Dorn, head of the research group "Online Optimization and Applications," was awarded in the category “Educational Program Leaders.” He is the author and academic supervisor of the AI Masters master’s program at the Moscow State University Institute for Artificial Intelligence and plays an active role in shaping modern AI training in Russia.

The winners received monetary awards as well as grants for access to Yandex Cloud services and Yandex 360.
