The traditional school "Management, Information and Optimization" named after B. T. Polyak will be held in Innopolis

From June 23 to 28, 2025, Innopolis University will host the XVI annual youth scientific school "Control, Information, and Optimization," dedicated to the legacy of renowned mathematician Boris Teodorovich Polyak. The event is open to senior undergraduate students, master's and PhD students, as well as early-career researchers. All lectures will be livestreamed and available to the public.

The school will feature speakers from leading institutions, including the Weierstrass Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg State University, Skoltech, HSE University, MIPT, AIRI, the T-Bank Research & Development Center, Central University, Innopolis University, and others.

The program covers a wide range of topics such as modern optimization methods, control theory, machine learning, and mathematical modeling. A full lecture schedule and livestream access are available here.

On June 27, the school will host the B. T. Polyak Award ceremony, honoring young researchers under 35 for outstanding achievements in numerical optimization methods over the past three years. The prize amounts to 100,000 RUB. The award committee includes experts from KU Leuven, the Institute of Control Sciences of RAS, MIPT, Moscow State University, SPbU, Innopolis University, and T-Bank.

In addition to lectures, the school’s program features:
— roundtable discussions with invited speakers
— an interactive session titled "Truth and Myths about B. T. Polyak"
— a poster session where young researchers can present their projects

The school has been held annually since 2009 and is named after Boris Teodorovich Polyak, one of the pioneers of modern numerical optimization methods. Previous editions have taken place in major research hubs such as Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and Moscow. In 2025, it will be held in Innopolis for the first time.
