Alexander Gasnikov, the head of the laboratory, received the international Talent Funding Award from the Institute of Strategic Research for 2023. The rector of Innopolis was awarded for research related to the development of numerical optimization methods.

The prize is awarded for a year with the possibility of extending financial support and involves business trips to the office of an international telecommunications company. In addition, the laureates can participate as a consultant in solving the company’s technological problems.

“This is truly a major and honorable award, the receipt of which requires a lot. In fact, this is an assessment of the usefulness of our group's scientific research in terms of applications in the telecommunications industry. I hope that I can justify the trust shown in the future,” Gasnikov said.

He expressed hope that the award will provide access to the most pressing issues in the field of information and communication technologies.

“I will try to take advantage of this opportunity and expand cooperation, including through my students and colleagues from different places, with this telecommunications company, which brings enormous benefits to domestic scientists throughout the country, offering science-intensive projects worth tens of millions of rubles (one project) to various scientific teams. I know firsthand that it is precisely such grants that have helped many good research teams gain proper momentum,” the scientist added.
