The head of the laboratory, Alexander Gasnikov, delivered a speech to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the IV Congress of Young Scientists, the main annual event of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia. The recording is also available on Rutube.
In a conversation with the president, the professor highlighted a number of topics. In particular, they talked about replicating the experience of leading Russian experts in the exact sciences to the regions.
«It's really a separate job in a sense to get the leading scientists in the country to adapt. They teach their courses, conditionally, at MIPT, at HSE. And how to make this course work well in the regions? This is a big separate work, and the project [the new bachelor's program „Mathematical Foundations of Artificial Intelligence“] is aimed at this,» the scientist said.
The head of the laboratory also noted the importance of solving the personnel issue in education.
«We need to involve scientists and the Academy of Sciences in order to create models for demographic forecasting and demand forecasting for personnel in various sectors of the economy,» suggested Gasnikov. «This should be done seriously and with the responsibility of academic institutions, not just ministries. Academics are essential because these are difficult tasks that cannot be solved by small groups.»
The IV Congress of Young Scientists was held on November 27-29 in «Sirius». It was a platform for exchange of views among representatives of advanced and basic science, government agencies, and the business community.
