Laboratory employee Ruslan Nazykov took part in the 27th International Conference AISTATS 2024. The event took place from May 2 to 4 in Valencia, Spain.
“Last year I joined the optimization group of Alexander Nikolaevich Beznosikov. During the semester, I, together with Alexander Shestakov and Vladimir Solodkin, my classmates, completed a project on stochastic optimization methods using the Frank-Wulf method. Subsequently, Alexander Nikolaevich invited us to work in the laboratory, where we continued to work on the article. The result was the publication of an article at the AISTATS 2024 conference. Other colleagues also certainly helped us, suggesting points in which they had more experience,” said Ruslan.
According to him, the most interesting part of the conference was learning how people “got to the place where they work, what they are doing now, and how the process of working on articles in other places occurs.”
Speaking about plans, Ruslan noted that he will continue to work in the same direction, find new unexplored topics and try to contribute to the development of the field.
“The experience of participating in the conference is unique in itself. This is an opportunity to visit different countries and new places. Participation in a conference of this level in itself means achieving a certain result, for which I am working,” concluded Nazykov.
The International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Statistics AISTATS 2024 is a meeting of researchers working at the intersection of computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics and related fields. The main goal of AISTATS is to enhance research in these areas by facilitating the exchange of ideas between them.
