The head of the laboratory, Alexander Gasnikov, became one of the hosts of the program «The Question of Science», which is on the channel Russia 24. Professor leads a track related to AI. The first broadcast release is available at the link and is dedicated to DeepFake, or face replacement technology. The second one reveals the evolution of artificial intelligence.
«The idea of such a transfer arose a long time ago. At one time there was a program „Obvious — incredible“. Physics was popular. Some modern analogues of such a program can be called „The Picture of the World“ on the TV channel Culture or „The Question of Science“ on Russia 24. In 2024, the leadership of Russia 24 came to me with a preliminary offer to become one of the hosts of this program on the new track „Artificial Intelligence and surroundings“. I was given an improvisational sample with Pavel Toropov, who was previously approved for the role of another presenter on a track related to modeling. The trial was dedicated to the topic „AI and weather forecast“. It turned out pretty well, and they made me an official offer to be a presenter,» Gasnikov said.
According to the professor, it was not easy to accept the offer immediately, because conducting the transfer requires quite active involvement in the work. But it was still possible to reach an agreement with the editorial board. Alexander Vladimirovich also consulted with colleagues at Innopolis University, who supported him and gave the go-ahead for such activity.
«An important role was also played by the fact that the first test program was watched by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. Moreover, he not only watched it, but also gave very detailed feedback, which we tried to take into account as much as possible already when filming the program about deepfakes. Such attention and level, of course, also set up the fact that the matter is more than serious. It is very significant that the broadcasts have a strong scientific component, and the speakers are good specialists, interesting people,» explained the head of the laboratory.
He added that the fact that there is now a demand for this from both the government and viewers motivates the program. According to WCIOM, 64% of Russians would like their children to work in science. Many see the development of the scientific sphere and education as the successful development of the entire country.
«I felt that I was in the right place at the right time and it was probably no coincidence. It is necessary not to resist this, but to accept and work on this track as well!» Gasnikov summed up.
The scientific program "The Question of Science" is broadcast on Fridaysin the morning on the Russia 24 TV channel. The programs will be broadcast at least once a month.
